Cocoyea London was formed 35 years ago with the initial aim of promoting the music of Trinidad and Tobago (Calypso and Soca). This has been done through hosting high profile and large scale events or fetes thoughout the year. Fete is a Trinidadian slang term for a party.
Cocoyea London has consistently attracted substantial numbers of revellers at venues such as the Camden Palais, The Forum and Scala nightclub and presented major soca stars such as Machel Montano, David Rudder and Ronnie McIntosh to the UK soca massive. The mas band has always been proactive in promotional, publicity and advertising work, supporting the UK’s first soca publication, Soca News and providing dedicated support to Soca DJ’s on the airwaves, at fetes and on the road at the Notting Hill Carnival.
As well as following commercial interests, Cocoyea London uses it prominent position in the community to financially support schools and other worthy causes within the Caribbean diaspora.
Cocoyea London, Over the years has enjoyed unsurpassable success, taking first place in all categories at Notting Hill Carnival. Cocoyea London is an early pioneer of the Notting Hill Carnival still commanding respect today.
